Tyler Clark Carothers

Tyler was born early.. in fact a few weeks and a year early! HA haha!  He was supposed to be born January 24, 2001.  Instead he decided he had enough of waiting around and came December 28th, 2000. When he came, he came out and started turning blue. I can only say it was very scary.  I did not care about myself. I was not doing too well either.  The medical staff was trying to keep me in focus, but it was hard watching them working on Ty to get him to breathe on his own.  They whisked you away to the NICU.  For the most part, the nurses were ok.. except for one woman.  She was a witch. I really wanted to say the other word.. but since some of you read here, I thought I'd at least keep it somewhat clean! She wanted you to be breastfed yesterday. She wanted me to be out of the NICU even last week.  She was always on my case.  I should have been more assertive with her.  But I am always too nice.  Eventually, she was not around and we were able to take you home 2 weeks after you were born.  You were the biggest baby in the NICU, and for some reason your lungs just were not prepared yet.  You fought the nurses, you fought the breathing tubes. But as you fought, you got better and you came home with us.

One day, I turned my back for one second and I turned around and there were two little blue eyes staring at me and you were covered in baby powder. Claire and Jane were trying to sneak upstairs to their room, and I knew then they were having a hard time accepting you coming into the fray of our family.  But as time went on.. everyone fell in love with you and you are a GREAT part of our family! We can't imagine what it would be like without our Tyler!!!

It was not your best birthday.  I was sick, you are still getting over being sick. BUT we did watch "Super 8" which was a great! You also got some fun presents, so it was not a total loss!

Happy Birthday Ty! I can't believe you are already 11.  You are growing up so fast. My heart aches because soon you will be all grown up!
