I wish I could have ridden in the cool HUMvee that Sgt. Briscoe picked Claire up last Wednesday. It had ARMY all over it. Maybe I should get a model with the decals and put one together hehehe.
Claire went up to LA on Wednesday with other recruits to take her medical and physicals.. then take the oath and be sworn in. Course.. they told me she would only be sworn in if all the meds/phys stuff was passed. I am a Mother and I worried that all would be well. I received a txt message telling me she had passed. ( The recruits spent the night up there in the Raddison Hotel. NO they were not all housed in the same rooms. Claire was by herself.. and she missed me. I missed her. I told her I wished I could be in the room with her being silly and just talking together.
It was good for her though. She is a good kid. We do have our moments as most parents do. We have a little over a year left with her being home. ( I wish I had pictures of this whole event, but alas, I had to work.. etc.)
Sgt. Briscoe is a cool guy. He has 2 teen daughters.. and so he treats Claire quite nicely.
YES she was sworn in. She reports in July 2012 to boot camp in Ft. Jackson, SC. Talk about trying not to cry. Our daughter.. who has been with us for 17+ years will be entering the military service come next year. A year goes by really fast. As a Mother its hard to let go of her, but at the same time I understand her desires to be herself and take care of herself. I keep thinking.. did I teach her everything she needs to know. Probably not.. but that is the beauty of being young. You learn and fast if you want to make it on your own.
We have a crazy Summer coming up. Kids get out of school in about 3 weeks, we have planned out our summer. We will be hitting the beach and the pool, and Sam wants to take swim lessons. Girls camp is in the end of June. Scout camp is the same week. My friend Tori is coming out from PA for a week and then us girls, Me, Jane, Claire and Tori will go to the Anime Expo in July. Sam's swim lessons is in July, and then August is our trek to Big Sur. We will be tent camping this time. I am looking forward to it. The kids are old enough now to tent camp.. and I think its gonna be a real adventure for all of us computer zombies.
Lots of hugs to all of you.. and congrats to your children in accomplishing another great year of school.
Yay for Claire. I have a few students who have done this with the Army and it has worked out well. This next year will go by so fast and in the end, she will leave as a friend more than a child. You'll cry a lot this last year. I cry at the smallest hint of graduation talk. It has nothing to do with being sad, either. I'm not sad at all. I'm very happy, very proud, very excited. I just tend to cry. Enjoy it all!!
ReplyDeleteHey Jenni... I know what you mean. Its not a sad cry... its an emotional cry. I am excited for Claire. I am excited for Morgan. Time just FLEW to this time. Love you guys!
